Face & Body 2008 Presents Education and Professional Development for the Spa Industry

(San Francisco, CA, June 2008)–The Face & Body 2008 Advanced Education Conference Program has been completely restructured to give attendees more time for exclusive educational programming, networking opportunities and ample time to meet with industry suppliers on the exhibit floor. Face & Body Spa & Healthy Aging Conference and Expo, August 16-18, at Moscone North in San Francisco, CA, is the only product-neutral educational forum on the West Coast for spa professionals and those involved in the industry including estheticians, massage therapists, medical therapists, plastic surgeons, dermatologists and other medical professionals.

The Face & Body Advanced Education Conference Program, taking place August 17-18, has been re-designed to focus on three important areas: executive education, which includes business-building strategies from disciplines and conditions outside the industry that may impact and be suitable for the business of spa management; professional education which explores best practices to provide solutions and innovative approaches to the tasks and challenges of spa management; and essential education, featuring advanced topics and new ways of doing business for experienced spa professionals.

These three focus areas will be covered thoroughly in five conference tracks that are spread out over two days instead one, and include Business-building, Medical Spa, Esthetic Science, Trends and Wellness/Sustainability. More than 30 industry experts will participate in the program and share their knowledge with attendees in this interactive curriculum. For complete conference details visit www.SkinInc.com/faceandbody.

“We re-designed our conference program based on attendee feedback and market trends,” says Melinda Taschetta-Millane, editor in chief of Skin Inc. magazine and conference director for Face & Body. “By focusing on executive education, professional education and essential education, spa owners and practitioners will be able to refresh their skills and keep abreast of new tools and methodologies, as well as network with others spa professionals and gain insight from industry peers.”

This year’s conference program will kick off on an inspirational note with the motivating Keynote and Coffee, featuring Emmy Award winner and Oprah guest Rhonda Britten, who will help the audience achieve “Fearless Living,” on Sunday, August 17th, at 8:30 a.m.

Also new this year are four Pre-conference Workshops, to be held on August 16th, from 1-5 p.m. These intense workshops will offer extensive information on:

  • The Anatomy of a Skin Care Product with Peter T. Pugliese, MD (Circadia by Dr. Pugliese)
  • Be the It Makeup Artist with Noreen Young (Noreen Young Studios)
  • Rainbow Reiki Treatment with Linda Bertaut (Bertaut Beauty)
  • Insights Into Inflammation and Wound Healing with Rebecca James Gadberry (YG Labōratories)

In addition, also on Saturday, Face & Body will feature two co-located events: Your Profitable Business Right Now II and the NCEA National Certification Prep Class. Led by Bryan Durocher of Durocher Enterprises, the all-day Your Profitable Business Right Now II will provide proven team development, marketing and promotion plans that will take businesses to a new level, and show how one can thrive even in a slowdown.

The NCEA National Certification Prep Class will help attendees prepare for and take the National Certification Exam. This entire program can be completed in as little as six to eight weeks. This prep class will provide attendees with a review of the scientific concepts covered by the National Certification Exam.

Opportunities to meet other industry professionals, suppliers, and industry experts include the Networking Cocktail Reception on Sunday evening, August 17th, immediately following the close of the first day of the expo. This reception will also include a celebration of Skin Inc. magazine’s 20th Anniversary and feature the Third Annual Skin Inc. magazine “Best of the Best Awards” presentation. All attendees at the reception can also enter for a chance to win an environmentally friendly car.
