Rick Stollmeyer graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy at Annapolis with a degree in political science and Russian language and was commissioned as a naval officer at the age of 21. After seeing much of the world through a Navy submarine periscope, he left the service in 1993. In the summer of 2000, inspired by the work of an old friend creating custom desktop software for yoga and Pilates studios, Stollmeyer founded MINDBODY with a singular vision, believing business software could be less expensive, more reliable and far more powerful if it was designed for and delivered through the Internet. Outside of his day job as primary futurist at MINDBODY, Stollmeyer practices gyrotonics and yoga, and enjoys camping, waterskiing, dirt bike riding and spending time with his family near San Luis Obispo, California, where MINDBODY is headquartered.
